Clinical Facilities

SPA CLINICS

The West Virginia University Speech Center is located on the eighth floor of Allen Hall. Therapy is conducted each day, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the services of a fully certified supervisory staff. During a typical semester, the caseload includes the following disorders: articulation, adult and child language, fluency, and voice. Individual as well as group therapy is offered each semester to meet the needs of the clients. Therapy sessions are conducted in seven treatment rooms, each of which is equipped with a two-way mirror and monitoring system. The clinic also conducts augmentative communication evaluations as part of its services. There is a video monitoring system and fully equipped laboratory for acoustic and physiologic study of speech disorders.

The SPA program also operates the West Virginia University Hearing Center at Allen Hall which is equipped to provide complete diagnostic and rehabilitative services. Patients are seen at the Center on a referral basis Monday through Friday. Students who register for audiology practicum are provided opportunities to gain varied experience in keeping with their interests and abilities. The Hearing Clinic at the WVU Health Sciences Center is staffed by certified audiologists. All audiology majors receive training in a wide variety of diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures on a large and varied population at the Health Sciences Center.

The Speech Clinic at the WVU Health Sciences Center is located on the second floor of the Physician’s Office Building in the Department of Otolaryngology. Therapy and diagnostics are conducted each day, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. under the supervision of a fully certified staff. During a typical semester, the caseload includes the following disorders: articulation, adult and child language, fluency, auditory processing disorders, and voice. Individual therapy and diagnostic sessions are conducted in four treatment rooms, each of which is equipped with a two-way mirror and monitoring system.
